Level Descriptions

Elite League = Elite/AAA

Elite teams are the top teams in the selected age group. Entrance into this level is by invitation only.

American League = AAA/AA

American teams are well developed baseball clubs with above average skills across the entire roster.

National League = AA/A

National teams are developed baseball clubs with above average skill mixed in with development players

Patriot League = A (N/A, we will add if we have enough teams for a level)

Patriot teams are instructional and developing. Patriot league will be the transition league typically from House into Travel Baseball. Recreational all star teams and part time travel teams will be included in this group.

The MSBL is a league of full time travel teams playing competitive level baseball for ages 8-14 years old in Northern IL. The MSBL provides players, coaches and parents the premium league experience teams deserve.

Ages

8U -14U

At the 14U level, high school players are eligible to play in the MSBL, unless they are rostered on a high school baseball team during the season. If a player begins the season on an MSBL team but is later added to a high school roster, they will no longer be eligible to continue playing in the MSBL.

Games

Teams will play 16-20 regular season games. Typically teams will play their division twice (home & away) and 1 non division game.

Umpires

Home teams are required to supply and compensate one patched umpire (IHSA preferred) during league games. If the umpire is not patched, the managers must agree using a “non-patched” prior to the start of the game
